The course covers the essential techniques for using Google Docs, which allows you to learn the basics of Word, Spreadsheet and PowerPoint. This course is for anyone who has used a computer before and wish to increase their knowledge and skills in using Office Apps, some mouse and keyboard skills are required. You can be a complete beginner in using Google Docs. You will learn the basics to get you started in all applications. You will develop your existing skills and gain new ones. This course will give you an insight into how all 3 programs operate and using Google Drive.

Course aim

The course is designed to introduce the 3 main packages in using Google Docs – Word Processing, Spreadsheet and PowerPoint.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Creating and editing documents
  • Formatting documents: change line spacing, change font size/style, colour use headers and footers
  • Use basic formulas
  • Create presentations
  • Save documents

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Bring along a folder for handouts and pen
