Course aim

This course is an opportunity to learn about London in the fresh air. You will visit places for the first time and revisit others and see a new perspective on this extraordinary City. Above all, the course will be enjoyable, healthy and fun.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for people with little spoken English
  • This is an inclusive course and all levels are welcome.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will learn more about London and your area.
  • You will meet, talk, share and laugh with other like-minded people.
  • You will have a chance to follow your interests and shape the course schedule.
  • You will walk in the fresh air and hopefully improve your health and well-being.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • It is up to you how much you put in to the course. You are very welcome to simply turn up for the walks but if you want to do some research beforehand you and the group will benefit.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • It is important to have footwear suitable for walking up to 3 miles. You need to take a water-proof with you on all walks unless you enjoy getting soaked!

Pre-course work, reading and information sources
