Great Reads from Around the World 1

Ref: C2419090

Different languages, cultures and traditions underpin our selection of fiction from across the world. In narratives drawn from the 20th and 21st centuries, we focus on works which have been prizewinners and whose reputations have crossed international boundaries. From historical and postcolonial concerns to political and social issues, we examine changes in the development of narrative forms and techniques in a variety of their original contexts. Included on the course are novels by Chinua Achebe, Giorgio Bassani, Kiran Desai, Rose Tremain and V.S. Naipaul, and we discuss the importance of their themes and approaches to fiction, still relevant for us in 2017.
