This course will give students new to playing the guitar a good grounding on basic play, understanding your guitar, tuning it and some essential advice to help you along your journey to becoming a capable guitarist.
Course aim
To provide complete beginners with a good underrstanding of how to play the guitar. This will include some theory and learning to play a specific song. No previous experience is necessary but you will need to bring your own guitar.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- An understanding of your guitar's anatomy.
- You will learn to play a song.
- You will learn to strum your guitar.
- You will learn to pick single notes on your guitar.
- You will learn to read simple guitar music.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
- You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
What else do I need to know?
- You need to bring a guitar, tuner and pick. We will help you get a tuner and pick needed.

- No pre reading or pre course work is required
