Lenin, Revolution and the Treaty of Brest Litovsk

Ref: C2339219

1918 was a very important year for Lenin and the Bolsheviks. The signing of the Treaty of Brest Litovsk brought an end to the participation of Russia in the First World War. This had a profound effect on Russia's relations with the West. The Romanov family were finally dealt with and this will be examined. Russia was also thrust into a Civil War which then expanded to include other nations that had belonged to the Empire of the Tsars. Key individuals such as Lenin, Stalin and Trotsky will be evaluated as to their role in these momentous events. The period 1918 - 1922 will be at the heart of this course. Some old newsreels capture these moments as do more recent biographical dvds of Lenin which we will view.
