Celtic Inspired Craft

A friendly craft workshop inspired by Celtic Art which is associated with distinctive patterns, spirals, knots, and creative foliage and animal forms. Have fun using this wonderful imagery as inspiration for creating a greeting card, producing a piece of woven or modelled jewellery, embellishing a box and designing your own illuminated letter. The workshop will include looking at illustrations of archaeological artefacts and documents decorated in the Celtic style.

Course aim

To enjoy a one day craft workshop inspired by Celtic Art and to use a variety of craft resources and techniques to produce items decorated with Celtic designs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced crafters

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Produce a greeting card decorated with Celtic style designs and patterns
  • Use readily available craft resources to create a Celtic style bracelet or pendant
  • Create a gift box embellished with zoomorphic designs and repeating patterns
  • Decorate an illuminated letter

How will I be taught?

  • Teaching will be by demonstration and informal and friendly support where needed

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with the tutor who will offer friendly support where needed

What else do I need to know?

  • The tutor can provide all equipment and materials for £2.00 included in the course fee. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch which students will need to bring with them although there is Co-op nearby. Tea and coffee will be provided.
