Have fun using a variety of resources and techniques in a friendly and supportive group to develop your creative skills using a mixture of specialist craft materials and everyday items. In addition to experimenting with different forms of embellishment and paper crafting, the course will include: - Decoupage - Card-making - Scrap Booking - Shell Craft - Jewellery - Collage

Course aim

To offer a variety of craft activities and encourage the development of creative skills by using a variety of techniques and resources to create some 2D and 3D artwork, including cards, decoupage, shell craft, collage, jewellery and scrap-booking.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • Anyone who has an interest in crafting. Everyone is welcome and the course is suitable for both beginners and experienced crafters

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Apply a variety of paper craft technique to create greeting cards and scrapbooking
  • Identify and apply stamping and embossing techniques to produce a piece of artwork
  • Use natural materials to embellish a gift box
  • Create a piece of jewellery using readily available materials
  • Know how to decorate an item using decoupage

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • The tutor will talk to you each session and provide support and informal feedback

What else do I need to know?

  • The tutor can provide all equipment and materials for £2.00 per session payable on the day. Everything students make can be taken home

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Students may wish to continue with different craft activities and develop their creativity by participating in new challenges
