This qualification is a practical and flexible way of improving your ICT skills using Office 2010. Work towards Individual Clait Plus Units such as File Management and PowerPoint and Improve your Skills on advanced Word Processing techniques such as Business Presentations and Document Presentation.

Course aim

To achieve Units in IT Skills Level II such as Clait Plus File Management and PowerPoint. Improve Word Processing Techniques such as Mail-merge, Business Presentations and Document Presentation. Internal examinations.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

  • Students need a Level 1 qualification in English to join this course
  • Students need a level 2 qualification in English to join this course
  • This course is for people with little spoken English
  • This course is open to Unison members only

  • For level 2 you need Level 1 in IT Skills and good basic computer skills or entry level 3 qualifications.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Clait Plus File Management Unit.
  • Clait Plus PowerPoint Unit.
  • Business Presentations Level II.
  • Mailmerge Level II.
  • Document Presentation Level II.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • Practical tasks, written and verbal feedback, completing practice assessments. Internal assessment and student diary.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources
