Ukulele for Improvers

Playing the ukulele is great fun and easy to pick up so you'll be playing and singing more popular tunes. We'll recap on the basic chords, learn some new ones and play and sing together. Bring your own ukulele if you have one. Ukuleles are available to use in class. You will need to be able to play the basic chords, C, Am, F, G7, G at least.

Course aim

To further develop playing the ukulele. How to play up to 5 - 7 chords, use of further strumming patterns.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Play 15+ chords
  • Change between chords with confidence
  • Use a variety of strumming patterns
  • Play and sing a variety of popular songs

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
