Intermediate Mixed Crafts -(Evening Class)

This course will give students the opportunity to work on a range of sewing, knitting and crochet skills, building upon the basics to work upon more complex patterns and techniques. The course will also have an emphasis on reading patterns and charts to enable students to work independently from a variety of sources.

Course aim

To provide skills in Sewing, knitting and crochet, working from the basics and building upon those to a more advanced level.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Crochet and knit a range of flowers
  • Gain an understanding of how to read knitting and crochet patterns and charts
  • Sew with a range of fabrics, learning how to use the machine to the best with each
  • Learn how to sew buttonholes using the technique in a project of choice

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
