An introduction to different aspects of computing using various applications found in Microsoft Office 2010.

Course aim

For the absolute beginner or anyone wishing to revise/refresh their computer skills after an absence from IT technology, using Microsoft Office 2010 programs and Windows 10 Operating System.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a greater confidence in using a laptop with Windows 10 as its Operating System.
  • Understand computer basics.
  • Access various Microsoft Office 2010 programs as a taster, for example, Word 2010, The Edge (replaces Internet Explorer), PowerPoint 2010 and Publisher 2010.
  • Create documents using text and pictures and using basic computer functions, for example, creating a new document, opening a previously saved document, saving a document, spell checking, and printing out documents.
  • Create a folder, save documents to folder.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A series of tutor created materials that require participation from the learner. Class discussions will be encouraged.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
