An introduction to different aspects of computing using various applications found in Microsoft Office 2010.

Course aim

For the absolute beginner or anyone wishing to revise/refresh their computer skills after an absence from IT technology using Microsoft Office 2010 programs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate greater confidence in using a computer/laptop.
  • Understand computer basics.
  • Access various Microsoft Office 2010 programs, for example, Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010 and Internet Explorer.
  • Create documents using text and pictures, and basic Microsoft Office 2010 functions, for example, open, close, save and print documents.
  • Create a folder, save documents to folder and spell check.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A series of tutor created materials that require active participation from the learner. Class discussions will be encouraged and will include demonstrations by the tutor.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
