Yoga and relaxation - 2

We will work with a range of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation and a guided relaxation; each session is adapted to the needs of the individuall. A holistic approach to yoga is taken.

Course aim

The course will work in greater depth: we will stretch, strengthen and relax the whole body; the breath being integral in each session.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • A year's experience is required.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Practice both the 7-Way Stretch and Salute to the Sun at home and in class with confidence.
  • Practice asanas at home with confidence.
  • Practice the breathing techniques in class and at home with confidence.
  • Practice the meditation techniques in class and at home with confidence.
  • Practice the relaxation techniques in class and put into practice outside the class to help contribute to overall heath and well-being.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • Handouts given out regularly.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
