This term we will cover six main projects. These projects cover a wide range of areas from transports to Victorian crafts, they are: Islamic new year craft, a group project on our capital city of London and its history, Diwali festival of light craft, how we travel- a project looking at different types of public transport, Keep sake box- a place to keep all your special memories, Victorian Christmas crafts.

Course aim

To support students with learning disabilities to express themselves through art and craft projects. Students will be encouraged to experiment with colour and shape, learn new skills , gain confidence and make new friends.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Created an Islamic new year craft
  • Worked as part of a team on the history of London and made a group piece of work for the day centre to share with others.
  • Created a Diwali craft
  • Discussed public transport as part of a group and looked at how we use it. Made an individual puzzle based on transport.
  • looked at the historty of the Victorian Christmas and made crafts.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
