BCS ECDL Level 2

This qualification is a practical and flexible way of improving your ICT skills using Office 2010. Work towards a Certificate at levels 1 and 2 using the CLAiT suite of exams. Units covered include Word Processing, Internet and Email, Spreadsheets or Powerpoint. 80% minimum attendance is essential.

Course aim

This course is aimed at learners who have Entry 3 computing skills, and would like to gain the skills and confidence to use Microsoft Office Applications and the Internet. The course can be flexible and adapted to individual learner's needs.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress
  • The learner will be able to track their progress, as on a regular basis they are given tasks to complete that are marked by their tutor, and any areas that the learner may need further support within are feed back to them.

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Students will be provided with a folder to store handouts and notes. A notebook would be useful, too.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Within each course there are CIA manuals, and practice papers that the learners use before completing their assessment, in addition to online resources that can be accessed at home.

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • By the end of the course students should be able to confidently implement and utilise in their personal life or working career the specific skills or qualification they have gained with WEA.

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits

  • have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2017
