This course will be split into two sections. The first will introduce students to various crafting technqiues used to make their own, unique Christmas decorations as well as giving students ideas on how to spruce up their gift wrapping and accessories. The second half, in the new year, will give students ideas on how to recycle and reuse their Christmas cards and wrapping.

Course aim

This course will introduce students to various crafting techniques used to create their own homemade Christmas decorations and gift wrapping, as well as ideas on how to re-use Christmas cards, wrapping and decorations after the holiday season.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Students will learn how to create various Christmas decorations for their home.
  • Students will learn how to create their own, unique gift wrap and gift wrapping accessories.
  • Students will learn various ways of recycling and reusing Christmas cards and wrapping after the holiday season.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A quick, simple learning log will be provided for you to mark your progress at the end of each session.

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • Students will be encouraged to find or save any unwanted greetings cards to be recycled during the last session. Details of this will be given the students during the course.
