We use plain fabrics , dye them to create unique coloured bases, then add embroidery by hand and sewing machine, to create little works of art. We use papers and sticks to create woven stick books, we will use brown paper to make simple books and then decorate with stamps blocks , we also create stitched books using papers, needles and card covered in papers or fabric, we also allow learners to create books of their choosing

Course aim

Come and join us to learn how to make fabric and paper journals. We use ink, dye and embroidery to create unique Books

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • make a paper book using brown paper and thread, decorating with stamp pads.
  • construct a book using paper and sticks,
  • create a fabric book using dye, print, and ink
  • dye fabrics to layer and construct into a journal

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

  • Nothing else is needed
