Watercolour Workshops 2

Ref: C2337860

Whatever subject you are interested in painting, this class will help you to focus on developing your watercolour skills. You will be taught the principles of painting in watercolour and encouraged to develop them at your own pace and in your own style. You don't need to have attended Watercolour Workshops 1 to attend Workshops 2 as a beginner or an improver.

Course aim

To provide you with general instruction and the skills necessary to be able to paint with watercolour and to help you to apply the skills you learn in your own painting.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • mix and use colour creatively
  • use watercolour in different ways
  • sketch and draw ready for painting
  • evaluate my progress by critiquing my own work

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • You will be required to supply and bring your own materials and equipment. Some subject matter will be provided but you are encouraged to bring your own with weekly guidance from the tutor.A materials list is available from WEA office in Derby.
