Online Immigration in a UK Context

This is live online learning using a free-to-use video app with an experienced tutor. Learn alongside other students from the comfort of your own home! You will need a PC or Laptop with connection to the internet, with a built in camera or webcam and speakers, (preferably headphones). You will be invited to a short testing the week before the course starts to make sure you can connect successfully. This course is for anyone who is interested in the migration subject, wants to find more detail information and discuss the theme with others and sharing opinions.

Course aim

This online course it is intended promote some discussion on the subject of migration into Britain. We will look into the subject’s recent history, relevant policies and impact of migration and Brexit.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Defining Migrants and Migration
  • Recognise the impact of Brexit on migration
  • Identify 3 types of migration
  • Recognise the Impact of Migration on Services and Planning
  • Describe relevant Policies Relating to International Migration into the UK

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • An online platform with breakout virtual rooms will be used to facilitate this course and encourage group discussion.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
