Modern life can be extremely hectic and stressful, so allowing yourself to stop and spend time reflecting on your current lifestyle is a very valuable process. During this course you will be able to discuss practical activities that could be used to enhance your daily life. The focus during the sessions will be to help you relax your body and your mind using meditation. You will set yourself goals each week, based on the Chakra energy system to re-connect with yourself and develop a personal health and wellbeing plan.

Course aim

To help you relax and reflect on different aspects of your current lifestyle in order for you to create personal goals to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • I would suggest that anyone attending this course has a level of conversational English. This will greatly improve your enjoyment of this discussion based course as you are encouraged to contribute and learn from life experiences within the group.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Experience and assess a variety of meditations.
  • Demonstrate 3 relaxing breathing techniques.
  • Describe the characteristics of the Chakra energy system.
  • Create a Health and Wellbeing Vision Board.
  • Compile 3 personal Health and Wellbeing Goals

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
