Understanding and Managing Anger

Do you find it difficult to understand and control your anger? Is it impacting on your everyday life and your relationships with others? This course will help you to understand your anger triggers, help you to look at different ways to express your emotions and give you strategies to stay calm.

Course aim

to provide participants with an understanding of anger, what their personal triggers are and help then to find coping strategies that they can apply in every day situations.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is suitable for anyone who feels their anger is having a negative impact on their life.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise what anger is and what the emotions are behind it.
  • Identify your anger triggers
  • Develop a range of coping strategies to express your emotions efectively
  • Develop starategies to stay calm and avoid conflict

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be encourage to undertake some of the strategies you have learnt at home and then feedback to the group.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
