Day School: Sketching Walk

Ref: C2225248

Join professional artist and illustrator Sue Pownall for a sketching walk exploring the historical town of Coggeshall, recording your impressions in line and colour on paper or in your own sketchbook. The walk will encourage on-location observational drawing as we wander around the town stopping to sketch key sites. At each stop there will be a short demonstration from Sue, she will then help you draw your own interpretations of the buildings, people, memorials etc. You will be encouraged to give context to your sketches through recording things, which are normally excluded, like parked cars and telegraph poles. This sketch walk is a brief introduction to urban sketching for anyone who can hold a pencil from beginners upwards and will help you record the details that make every town and village unique. Being in a group makes sketching in public less intimidating and Sue has some handy tips to share on how to choose a place to draw from to make you less visible.
