If you have old photographs and documents then this course will show you how to digitise these. You will also be shown how to use photo manipulation programs in order to restore any old photos which may have damage to them.

Course aim

The course is to provide an introduction to photographic restoration and digitisation.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Able to use a photo manipulation program
  • Able to digitise photos and documents
  • Able to repair scratches, etc on old documents
  • Knowledge of different photo manipulation programs
  • Confidence in improving old photos

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • If you have your own laptop then please bring it with you. You need to also bring some old photographs

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
