Digital PRIME is a new and dynamic course provided by the WEA for older learners wanting to develop new digital/IT skills along with the confidence to move back into the workplace or change of career.

All students will be referred onto this course by JCP and all students will be ion a means tested benefit

Course aim

To provide an introduction for older learners into digital/ IT skills and building self confidence as well as learning how these skills can be applied when seeking employment or changing career.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use specific digital devices more confidently
  • Explore options available for work using IT applications, whether changing career, changing hours or looking for a new job
  • Discuss the importance of self-image including my digital footprint
  • Use on line platforms for job search
  • Explain the process and use social media for job searching

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • If possible it would be helpful to bring along or have access to your electronic CV E.g. on a memory stick, on Universal Job Match or as an attachment to an email.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation

  • have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
