On this course you will be able to learn to play group pieces on the keyboards or percussion, arranged or written by the tutor. Additionally we will listen to and discuss some classical composers and their compositions as well as the instrumentation used. We shall also sing a large range of songs accompanied by the tutor.

Course aim

To practise original and adapted pieces on keyboards and percussion. To study some classical composers and instrumentation. To sing a range of songs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Play through at least one piece partially or entirely on percussion or keyboards.
  • Recall and have an increased awareness of composers from different cultures as well as their compositions and some of the instrumentation used.
  • Sing a mixture of songs.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
