Musical Postcards

Ref: C2224372

For generations, composers ahve been inspired to compose music describing a place, scene or country from Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony to Britten's Sea Interludes. This course is a journey of exploration in which different countries are visited and music linked to those countries and specific places. Students will be asked to determine the route (within reason). Whilst no prior musical or geographic knowledge is required, a map may be necessary at times.

Course aim

The course involves a musical tour which relates specific places to pieces of music inspired by these locations. In this exploration the context of the music and its composer will be discussed. Students will be offered a choice as the musical route.
