Health and wellbeing course give opportunities for people to learn about wider health issues in the community and to prepare themselves for working in the health related jobs.

Course aim

A basic introduction to different food groups and the roles they play in daily activity, the need for rehydration and the importance of a well-balanced diet.

What topics will this course cover

Identifying the different types of food categories, a basic overview of what they do and why they are important for daily living.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1.Identify different types of carbohydrates. 2. Identify different types of protein. 3.Identify different types of fats. 4. Identify the need for rehydration.

How will I know I'm making progress?

By recognising the different types of food and how they are stored and or used in the body
