In this course we will use a series of discussions, practises and team-building exercises to promote a satisfactory relationship with the local community of Bardsey Island. This partnership introduction help students to take part in a community in a safe environment. The outcome are mainly in the areas of self-esteem and community respect.

Course aim

The primary aim of this course is to introduce students to the Bardsey Island Community, our long term partnership and how this has affected our groups as a whole. This introduction will include students taking part in discussions with our partners with reference to past mutual support and how this came about.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Discuss outcomes with regard to group esteem and participation . prepare a safe walk and write a productive risk assessment for future students at this site. Prepare meals, rotas and team-building exercises. Discuss 12 step programs with regard to The Big Book of AA. Take part in community discussions and prepare future visits

Discussions include laptop research, unavailable at this site, for future training and understanding of community practises
