This course will re-visit all the techniques learned on the previous two courses and will strengthen core skills with a view to mixing the techniques to create your own personal designs. Beginners are also welcome on this course.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to the core principles of a variety of methods and mixed media and for planning and making jewellery items linking different methods of application.

Reading, understanding and following patterns. Experimenting and inventing designs with Polymer Clay

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Read and understand a pattern. Choose three learning outcomes personal to your choice of projects

How will I know I'm making progress?

Verbal feedback is given throughout the course and written feedback is given midway and end of course on the student ILP

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Students will provide any materials for their own projects. Some materials will be available for new students to try before buying. Returning students will also need jewellery tools and findings to complete project work. Some tools are available for use from the tutor in lessons only and must be returned at the end of each session.

Reading and information sources

No reading or preparation is essential or desired.

What could the course lead to?

There will be future courses from the same WEA tutor and information of other providers will be made available to students throughout the course. Students can also embed their learning using 'Youtube' and further reading of the subject.
