This course will teach you vital creative and practical skills, to help you create items of clothing to be used as part of a portfolio, should you wish to pursue a successful career within the fashion industry.

Pattern making is a course where learners are able to learn step by step how to take body measurements and are able to measure and cut pattern using brown paper, then label the pattern with correct body measurements. With the pattern it will make it easy for the learners to cut the material and sew their garment.

to be able to make to measure, draft and sew a selected garment.

anybody who is interested in garment making.

so that they can make their own clothes and save money.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Identity and demonstrate Health and Safety requirements when undertaking an activity Research fashion and clothing styles and tips using 2 sources. Visit the local library and market by walking as part of health and wellbeing Demonstrate the importance of planning for an activity and costing for the completed item Communicate ideas for portfolio with tutor and others Present and review finished product/s

on going assessment, feedback at the end of the course and question and answer.
