Personal Development (Including Mentoring)
In this course we will discuss what we have learned of employability through the NewLeaf project. We will seek to assess what outcomes our community has observed and where problems have occurred. There is also a continuation of discussion of the group agreement process essential to our developmental programs.
Primarily we aim to introduce learners to a safe environment to take part in training where the aim is to produce developmental outcomes. In this course we will return to employability and community expansion. Mentors will introduce, on a one to one basis, the NewLeaf project and its recent effects on our community and that of our partners.

What topics will this course cover
Employability, risk assessment, health and safety, group agreements, mentoring.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Discuss employability experience and philosophy. 2. Create a group agreement and discuss its principles.. 3. Agree a diverse and equal list of practises for the residential and discuss their outcomes. 4. Practise the principles of these practises throughout the residential.
How will I know I'm making progress?
One to one and group discussions each day and mentoring throughout each day
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Warm clothes, walking shoes or boots, sheets and pillow case, towel and washing equipment.
Reading and information sources
What could the course lead to?
Many of our learners now work in charities both and full and part-time or as volunteers. The pathways to these positions is discussed where appropriate. We will also discuss future training and offer handouts and websites to peruse
