Healthy Eating for Young Children(HEY) course to engaging parents and carers in activities relating to healthy eating and life skills

Course aim

This course will help to improve the health of children age 1 to 3 by engaging their parents/carers in activities relating to healthy eating and life skills.

1. Healthy lifestyles for parents and toddlers 2.healthy eating for parents and toddlers 3.Shopping for the family. 4.Keeping the family safe when cooking and eating. 5.Going shopping. 6.Simple healthy cooking 7. Time to celelbrate.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Healthy lifestyles Healthy eating Healthy food shopping Prepare and cook food safely Comparing different food products Cooking Healthy meal Time to celebrate

How will I know I'm making progress?

Students will each have a booklet to work through so they have access to what they have learned. They will be given oral feedback as well as continual observations and encouragement to cook at home.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Bring pen,paper and a ring binder file

Reading and information sources

Learners should be able to read basic English

What could the course lead to?

A cookery course or a self confidence course.
