This course is suitable for beginners and new learners who do not even know the basic principles Of measurement and cutting the pattern.

Pattern making is a course where learners are able to learn step by step how to take body measurements and are able to measure and cut pattern using brown paper, then label the pattern with correct body measurements. With the pattern it will make it easy for the learners to cut the material and sew their garment.
To enable the learners to develop skills and techniques in pattern making for a well fitted garment

Anyone who is interested in learning how to make patterns
What topics will this course cover
1. Health and Safety 2. Take body measurements and record on the sheet 3. Use body measurements to draw block patterns 4. Research fashion clothing styles and methods from two resources e.g. Magazines, Internet 5. Making patterns of different necklines e.g. Scallops, Collers 6. Evaluation and Assessment of LLP
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Identify and demonstrate health and safety requirements when undertaking an activity 2. Practice taking body measurement 3. Identify and demonstrate the importance of planning for an activity 4. Practice cutting and labelling the pattern step by step. 5. Demonstrated the importance of learning for an activity and communicate ideas for portfolio with tutor and others

Through the learning plan , continued assessment , one to one feedback and peer evaluation

Essential Materials :- Pattern paper , Stationary, and books to be provided by student
