This digital photography course is designed for people who want to learn how to take and create better photographs. For returning students the course will start to take them further with additional challenges.
This course will provide a brief introduction to digital photography and concentrate on composition and other fun elements. For returning students there will be extended exercises and a push for further improvement.
Who is the course for?
No experience is required, you can take digital photographs with either a mobile phone, compact camera or DSLR on this course.
What topics will this course cover
The course will concentrate on composition as this is the most important element. Group critiques of work completed help to consolidate knowledge. There will also be a social purpose element to the course where students will enagage with their local environment, using photography to provide a narrative for local issue. Photographs will be printed and exhibited.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Confidently use their digital camera in a creative manner 2. Produce a series of images to a high standard that are of an interest to them 3. Produce enhanced images using post processing software 4. Demonstrate an enhanced sense of well being as a result of attending this course 5. Produce images which could be of use to the community
How will I know I'm making progress?
There will be weekly group critiques of images and also 1-2-1 sessions if required.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Camera (Phone, Bridge or DSLR), memory cards, notepad and pen Access to a computer to process images as well as email to submit homework - assistance and guidance will be provided.
