Course aim

You will learn how to make the perfect cupcake.! You will create delicious toppings and go on to make your own simple decorations using sugar paste.

Who is the course for?

Open to anyone who likes baking and decorating cakes.

What topics will this course cover

Baking the perfect cupcake Making buttercream and piping swirls Handling sugarpaste and making own decorations

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Identify a range of tools , equipment and materials for baking and decorating cakes (at least 8) 2. Use 2 methods for decorating cupcakes 3. Produce decorations for cupcakes using 2 methods 4. Identify health an safety guidelines for subject area

Apron container for finished items Any cake decorating tools and equipment you may have ( Tutor will advise at first class) Approximately £1.50 a week for ingredients
