Art Attack with Kids

This is a fun course for parents of toddlers. You will learn different techniques to create pieces of art which you could make and develop together at home. The same skills can be used to produce art with older children too. The use of recycled materials such as basic household objects will be encouraged as much as possible.

Course aim

to encourage parents to interact with their children by actively participating in art activities together. The course will teach the students different techniques to create artworks out of mainly recycled materials.

Who is the course for?

Parents with toddlers. No experience is necessary.

What topics will this course cover

The course will teach you how to paint, print, cut and adapt recycled objects to produce something that you can take home. It will also give you the skills to develop your own ideas and interact creatively with your children at home.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1 paint using different techniques 2 print using many different objects and techniques 3 cut recycled materials and turn them into something else 4 decorate objects and pictures imaginatively with recycled materials

How will I know I'm making progress?

I will work on an individual basis to show how students can improve and give them feedback.

What could the course lead to?

Parents can develop the skills learnt by trying them out with their children at home. The skills can be shown to older children and adapted. There are many activities and ideas to be found online.
