An informal way of improving fitness level, toning, release stress and make new friends in addition to learning new skills of belly dance.

Course aim

Explain a brief history of belly dance and the key principles of this form of art. Introduction to variety of steps and belly dance moves.

Who is the course for?

Neither previous experience nor qualifications required. All levels, abilities and fitness are welcome.

What topics will this course cover

Brief introduction to the history of the art of belly dance. Wide range of steps and moves.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Demonstrate range of moves and steps. Create a sequence of steps and moves as part of choreography. Participate in the annual show.

How will I know I'm making progress?

Verbal feedback and demonstration.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Comfortable clothes. Suitable dance shoes. Belly dance hip scarf. Bottle of water.
