This course will help students to expand your vocabulary and build their confidence in speaking in public on a variety of topics.
The aim of the this course is to help students practise their spoken English and boost their confidence.
Who is the course for?
Minimum of ESOL Entry Level 2
What topics will this course cover
Some of the topics covered in this course will be Culture, Community News, Education, Free time and Leisure, Getting around, Looking for Work, Health, Housing. The tutor might introduce some other topics depending on the level of the students.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1.ask a range of questions to obtain information 2.give a short description and make comparisons 3.express feelings, likes and dislikes 4.listen for gist and for detail in different contexts
How will I know I'm making progress?
Your tutor will give you verbal and formative feedback. You will regularly review group and individual targets on your Individual Learning Plans.
