This course provides an introduction in the use of tablets (iPads and Android) for email, internet access and entertainment in a relaxed, friendly environment. Every student is catered for individually and the course content will be customised to accommodate the students’ requirements.

Additional information about this course

This course is run by the WEA, working in partnership with East Surrey College delivering Adult Learning across the East Surrey area. This is a fee paying course. If you are in receipt of an income related benefit you may be entitled to free tuition. You will need to provide evidence of your benefit status at the first session.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to the setting up, managing and using an iPad or android tablet. The students will start to gain the knowledge and confidence to use and manage their tablet. Topics will be tailored to take account of the students' own interests.

Students will need to bring their own ipads or tablets

Understanding your settings and customising your tablet Using Voice recognition Taking, organising and sharing photos Using cloud storage (Dropbox) Downloading apps from the internet Other topics based on attendees requests

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Use their Email on their tablet 2. Connect to and use the internet 3. Use the camera to take photos and videos 4. Use cloud storage to store and share files (photos) 5. Download Apps from the store

How will I know I'm making progress?

Feedback will be provided verbally by the tutor to individual students in a timely and appropriate fashion.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Students need to provide their own tablets (iPad or Android) and will need to know their account information and passwords.

What could the course lead to?

Topics covered on the course provide a good understanding of the most frequently used uses of tablets. The students will be able to communicate with others via Email, use the Internet, and take and share photos.
