A general painting and drawing course with demonstrations, simple exercises and opportunities to work in a variety of materials. Suitable for beginners and those wanting to improve their skills. Basic materials and equipment will be provided.

Course aim

To provide a broad foundation in the basic skills needed for drawing and painting.

Who is the course for?

What topics will this course cover

The course will include painting and drawing a variety of subjects in pastel ,watercolour and acrylic

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Use a limited palette of colours to make a more striking image 2. Use mixed media and collage in a painting or drawing 3. Make a monoprint More advanced students may suggest personal learning outcomes .

How will I know I'm making progress?

Verbally throughout the course.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

There is a charge of £3.50 per term for paper - all other basic materials and equipment will be provided. Please wear an apron or old clothes.
