Art: Drawing and Painting (Reaching Out)
This course gives students who otherwise cannot get access to art classes the opportunity to experiment with a range of materials and complete a number of exciting projects in drawing and painting.

To provide those who enjoy drawing and painting, but need support to access art classes, with the opportunity to complete a number of exciting projects in art.
Who is the course for?
No experience necessary.
What topics will this course cover
Working with colour, drawing techniques, still life, abstract art.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Produce a still-life drawing or painting. Produce a finished abstract or semi-abstract design using a range of colours. Experiment confidently with art techniques for enjoyment.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Regular informal, one to one and group feedback on progress.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
No preparation necessary.
Reading and information sources
No reading required, but students are encouraged to bring their own source materials such as photos of their favourite places or designs.
What could the course lead to?
The course is introductory, but students are welcome to experiment with the techniques taught beyond the class and have their external work discussed and assessed.
