Practical Art: Art by the Sea (Reaching Out)
This course gives students the opportunity to experiment with a range of materials and complete a number of exciting projects in art including landscape painting and a personal project.

To provide the opportunity for a wide range of adults, including those who cannot normally get access to classes, to complete a number of exciting projects in drawing and painting.
Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
The course offers expert but accessible instruction in drawing, colour mixing, landscape painting and a personal project such as a portrait or abstract design.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Complete a finished landscape painting or design. Complete a personal project such as still-life, portraiture or an abstract design. Experiment confidently with art techniques for enjoyment.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Regular informal, one to one and group feedback on progress.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
No equipment is required, however students are encouraged to bring their own source material such as photos of their favourite places.
Reading and information sources
What could the course lead to?
The course is introductory, but students are welcome to experiment with the techniques taught beyond the class and have their external work discussed and assessed.
