The Art of Photography (Improvers)
A fun mix of theory and hands on learning opportunities. Sessions will be a mix of discussion, power point presentation and analysis, group work and different practical activities to expand technical camera skills.

Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at students who have already completed an introduction to photography course. Knowledge of basic camera controls required. There will be outside trips and practical exercises so mobility and a moderate level of fitness is required
What topics will this course cover
Exploration of photographic techniques Effective Planning for the photographer There will be individual guided learning of the difference between 'taking' pictures[haphazardly pointing and shooting a subject] and making pictures[reflecting on what the photographer wishes to communicate and working successfully towards their goals]. We grow as photographers by feedback on our work from others. We will be exploring Critique, how best to prepare and deliver one.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Demonstrate creativity with camera and controls Deliver a positive and constructive critique Develop a portfolio of images
How will I know I'm making progress?
Students will receive verbal feedback on their practical work each session. Progress will also be recorded throughout the course using individual learning plans.
