Tai Chi for All
Soft and gentle movements combined with a set breathing pattern that helps you to experience a feeling of relaxation and inner peace. It is good for balance, co-ordination, flexibility, for relieving stress and it is fun!
To further progress student in the practice of Tai Chi, in a supportive and nurturing manner in order to encourage and stimulate stamina, control of body, generate calmness, focus and to help manage stress in a natural and non-intrusive way.
Who is the course for?
For anyone wanting to improve flexibility and focus. No experience or qualifications are needed just an open mind and a willing attitude
What topics will this course cover
General warm-up exercises and abdominal breathing techniques Refresh, consolidate and refine previously learnt forms and patterns, taking each up to the next level as appropriate and introduce new forms and patterns as time allows to include: Tai Chi Qing Qi (complete), Sun Short Form, 8 Step Yang, 8 Treasures, Butterfly Tai Chi Relaxation and Reflection
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Run through warm-up exercises and breathing techniques Execute a variety of Tai Chi forms and patterns demonstrating smooth and fluid movements Continue to develop abdominal breathing to use throughout Tai Chi practice Create a sense of calmness and peace through relaxation and your Tai Chi Follow the safety guidelines as laid down by tutor
How will I know I'm making progress?
Feedback will be continuous throughout the sessions, both on a group and individual basis and assessment will be done visually, verbally and the successfully completing the execution of forms and patterns by and at the end of the course. I will record assessment progress of each student.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Loose comfortable clothing and soft pump-like shoes together with an open mind.

No reading or preparation necessary Handouts will be provided by tutor as required

Using Tai Chi and breathing techniques learnt as a tool to help manage any stress or anxiety in your daily life and to be able to relax and enjoy life.
