Developing your IT skills-beginners and improvers

A course designed to assist learning from a variety of applications including Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet and Graphics.

Course aim

To increase confidence and skills, using many aspects of Microsoft applications. Learn new IT skills or build upon existing knowledge, provide transferable skills and learn in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Who is the course for?

Everyone

What topics will this course cover

Students to select their own subject where they will work from a work book at their own level and pace, suitable to their own needs. Tutor assistance will be available throughout the sessions. On completion of the chosen work book, students gain a WEA certificate and will be given advice an guidance with the next stage of learning.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Input text. Format text Save a document. Print a document.

How will I know I'm making progress?

1:1 feedback throughout the sessions course work marked and feed back given and WEA certificate awarded On going group feedback and course review.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Students are advised to make their own notes and bring a ring binder and plastic wallets to display their own work.

Reading and information sources

The spreadsheet guide for dummies *(excel) IDG books * depending on chosen subject, ie Word Processing, Publisher, PowerPoint, Internet, Watch the TV programme "Click" or look at their website, follow them on social media. Look at any new technology articles in the newspaper or online.

You can if you meet all of the following requirements:
