This course provides an introduction to The Principles of Huna, The Laws of the Universe, the Shamanic Journey, and a range of meditation and self development activities from a variety of cultural and shamanic sources and how these may be applied for self development and improving physical & mental health.

This course draws from a range of international historical and cultural sources and presents personal development techniques, philosophies and models, with practical experiences of a range of meditation and relaxation skill-based activities, to help students deal with stress, build confidence and feel more positively about themselves and their lives. This course includes the Principles of Shamanism, Seven Laws of The Universe and regular practice of the Shamanic Journey (drumming meditation).
This course provides an introduction to The Principles of Huna (Hawaiian Philosophy) and the Shamanic Journey Process, The Laws Of The Universe and the Cutting Past Ties & Soul Retrieval Techniques, and how these may be applied for self development and improving physical & mental health.

What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Describe the basic origins and uses of the Huna Principles and Shamanic Journey, and be aware of a use and benefit of each. Identify two or more meditation and self development techniques and be able to describe their uses and practice. List two or more personal benefits from the practice of these meditation and self development techniques. Utilise at least one meditation and self development technique in everyday life.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Weekly progress and review sessions are held each session to reflect upon and share progress, challenges and achievements. Learners can email any personal questions to the tutor during the course.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Nothing is required except an open mind and the willingness to learn and apply the techniques.
Reading and information sources
All handouts and necessary course materials will be provided.
What could the course lead to?
References will be supplied for further reading and research. Students should be able to immediately utilise the techniques learned during this course.
