Confidence Building for Women
Gain confidence speaking in groups and develop communication methods and skills including use of positive body language. Visit Historical Places and talk about your experience. Learn about other cultures and traditions.
To increase confidence in communicating in everyday situations in order to minimise isolation and promote integration.
Who is the course for?
This course is for women only as it is held in a Women's Centre.
What topics will this course cover
Books - short stories, conversation - Work sheets, materials from newspapers and websites, handouts, travel to different places, create a folder of your work.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Demonstrate increased confidence in their communication skills. Benefit from each other's skills and expertise. Demonstrate that they have built vocabulary and knowledge. State what they have learned about historical buildings of England. Talk about other cultures and traditions in English.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Talk for 3-5 minutes on given topic and receive verbal feedback from the tutor and other students. Written comments will be given on completed handouts and on your ILP.

What could the course lead to?
Progress to a higher level course or a qualification leading towards employment and career. To run learning circle, help their community.
