Enjoy studying a beautiful language with a native Italian tutor in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This course is for people who would like to achieve a deep command of the language and a deeper knowledge of Italy, Italian culture and literature

Course aim

To practise Italian through conversations and reading materials in order to achieve a deep command of the language and a deeper knowledge of Italy and Italian culture and literature.

Who is the course for?

Course participants must have at least 5 years experience of learning Italian. You will need a good knowledge and command of spoken and written Italian and Italian grammar.

What topics will this course cover

You will review some aspect of Italian grammar and in particular the use of subjunctive, relative pronouns, comparatives and superlatives. You will practise the language through conversations and debates about Italy and Italian culture. You will read an discuss an Italian novel.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Hold a casual conversation with a good degree of fluency and accuracy. Demonstrate a deeper command of Italian grammar and in particular: the use of subjunctive, relative pronouns, comparatives and superlatives. Read and demonstrate and understanding of an Italian novel.

How will I know I'm making progress?

Informal feedback will be given by the tutor throughout the course.
