Italian for Beginners
Enjoy learning a beautiful language with a native Italian tutor in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Mainly focused on developing conversational skills, with this course you will be able handle the basic everyday and social language to communicate with Italian people.
To be introduced to Italian language and culture. To learn the basic language in order to communicate simply with Italian people in everyday, social and travelling contexts.
Who is the course for?
This course is for people who would like to learn the basic language to communicate simply with Italian people. New students are welcome to join the course. It will be helpful if you are already able to greet people and introduce yourself.
What topics will this course cover
This course will cover the following topics: - Talking about yourself and getting to know other people - Talking about your daily routine and free time activities - Shopping for food in the market and for different items in shops - Planning an evening out or a trip with friends
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Talk about yourself; ask for other people's details Talk about your daily routine and what you do in your free time Ask for items in shops and for food in the market Suggest something to do and arrange a meeting with friends
How will I know I'm making progress?
Informal feedback will be provided by the tutor throughout the course.

Reading and information sources
You will be asked to prepare some written homework between classes in order to practise and consolidate the language. Extra materials and worksheets will be given through the course by the tutor.
What could the course lead to?
You may wish to progress onto an Italian Improvers course in September 2017.
