A relaxing creative arts course taught in an informal and supportive setting with guidance from an experienced tutor. Aimed at adults who experience stress, depression and other mental health difficulties.

Course aim

This course aims to help students to look at colour and shapes within their work, making designs, linking colour and shape, hard and soft

Who is the course for?

This course is targeted at adults who experience stress, depression and other mental health difficulties and can join a mutually supportive social group

What topics will this course cover

Looking at different shapes and there suggestive colour, use of shapes to change perception of colour and vice versa

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

Plan and create an abstract design Plan and create a semi abstract design Demonstrate a greater understanding of the use of colour and its emotional resonance Improve mood and disposition

How will I know I'm making progress?

Ongoing feedback will be provided by the tutor and students will be encouraged to discuss their pieces of work with the tutor and other students to help with the development of ideas.
